2020-2021 Admissions Process

Pursuant to ACPS Board Policy LC, admission to Community is determined by lottery on a space available basis, with the rising 6th class filled first.  All eligible applications will be included in the lottery.  Students must reside in Albemarle County to be eligible to attend Community. Once available seats are filled, the lottery continues to determine waitlist order.

The Admissions Packet for the 2020-2021 school year will be available on this page November 25th until January 24th. During that time, we offer three Admissions Information Sessions. Families can register for one or more of the information sessions here. Late applications will be added to the waitlist through July 15 in the order of receipt.

The Admissions Packet contains a General Information Page and a brief Questionnaire for the student, parent, and a school counselor.  The admissions process includes Parent Information Sessions and a Student Visit.  The primary purpose of the Admission Process--Packet. Parent Info Session, Student Visit, Questionnaires--is to ensure families and students have a deep understanding of our school philosophy, purpose, practices, and expectations in order for them to make decisions based on current and accurate information.

  • Lottery Drawn and Families Notified: February 28
  • Deadline to Accept Seat: March 13
  • Families Admitted from Waitlist Notified: July 15
  • 2020-21 Admissions Closes: August 1
