I was inspired to serve because I believe strong public schools are the foundation of a thriving community. Our schools shape not only academic outcomes, but also opportunity, belonging, and long-term well-being for students and families. With five kids of my own in ACPS, I felt called to help ensure every child in Albemarle County has access to a high-quality education and the support they need to succeed. What continues to motivate me is the resilience and potential I see in our students, the dedication of our educators, and the responsibility we have as leaders to make thoughtful, student-centered decisions.

I value the deep commitment our community has to education. Families, teachers, staff, and community partners genuinely care about our students and consistently show up to support them. Albemarle County is diverse in geography, background, and experience, and that diversity strengthens our schools. I also value the collaborative spirit here — when challenges arise, people are willing to engage in dialogue and work toward solutions together.

Students are always at the center of my decision-making. I consider what will best support student learning, well-being, and long-term success. I also weigh equity, fiscal responsibility, staff sustainability, and the long-term impact of our choices. It’s important to balance immediate needs with strategic planning, ensuring we are good stewards of public resources while keeping our mission — serving every student — at the forefront.

Our top priorities include strengthening academic outcomes, supporting and retaining high-quality staff, and ensuring safe, supportive learning environments for all students. We must continue addressing learning gaps, invest in student mental health and well-being, and maintain responsible budget planning in a challenging fiscal environment. Supporting our educators and staff remains critical to everything we hope to accomplish.

I’m hopeful we can continue building a school system where every student — regardless of background — has the resources, opportunities, and encouragement to thrive. I believe we can strengthen partnerships with families and the broader community, enhance transparency and trust, and make strategic investments that position ACPS for long-term success. Most of all, I hope we continue fostering schools where students feel safe, valued, and inspired to reach their full potential.
