Question of the Week

Question of the week

Where do the events and observances come from in the Weekly Check-in?

Our Communications Office compiles events and observances from various sources and reviews them with the Office of Community Engagement. Publishing upcoming national and state-level education-related observances and events, including religious and cultural ones, in our weekly Check-In is important because it keeps all staff informed and aware.

This knowledge enables educators to better support and connect with students and colleagues, fostering respect for the diverse backgrounds in our school community. Additionally, being aware of these observances helps us understand when students may be absent for cultural or religious reasons. Awareness of these teachable moments in time ensures that we can plan lessons, activities, and discussions that are inclusive, meaningful, and considerate of everyone’s needs.
