March is Youth Art Month

It’s an opportunity The Council for Art Education says, to recognize the lifelong skills developed by visual arts experiences. Skills such as problem-solving, creativity, observation and communication.

Students at Stone-Robinson Elementary School recently completed a project that showcased these skills while at the same time, addressing one of the most serious issues resulting from the pandemic.

One of the benefits of in person instruction during normal times are the social and emotional connections that bring students closer together, forging close friendships, teamwork and support for one another. How to do that when up to half of a class or more are learning from home?

The answer was to involve students in designing or reproducing artwork for postcards that would be sent to students at home letting virtual students know how much they are appreciated. For a look at the winning entries from each grade level, click below.
