Students uncover and share narrative of World War II soldier

This past Wednesday marked Veterans Day. Personally, I thank all of our employees with military experience in your background for your profound service to our nation and community. It was 101 years ago, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, that the armistice that brought World War I to an end was signed.

That moment led to an annual celebration of what in 1954 was formally established as Veterans Day. We were reminded just last week of how precious the gift is that our veterans bequeathed to our nation and continue to support, when close to 150 million people all across the U.S. participated in an election to choose a president.

And check out this cool story about our students uncovering and sharing the narratives of veterans: CROZET STUDENT NEEDS YOUR HELP TO TELL THE STORY OF A WORLD WAR II SILENT HERO®. What an inspiring story about the power of project-based teaching and learning! It reminds me of this fun video we used to share from High Tech High: Changing the Subject. I love to read about the creative work teachers and students do to tell the stories of our elders.
