School Naming Review: Murray Elementary School

Murray Elementary School

At its meeting on April 1, 2021, the Albemarle County School Board formally approved retaining the name of Virginia L. Murray Elementary School. The board’s action supported the recommendations of the advisory committee, the superintendent, and members of the school community.

The Murray Community Advisory Committee launched the School Naming Review Survey to receive stakeholder opinions on the renaming of Virginia L. Murray Elementary School. In total, the survey received 458 responses.

Final School Naming Review Survey Results (Doc) | March 1, 2021 - March 18, 2021

The Murray Community Advisory Committee presented the community with 10 possible names for Virginia L. Murray Elementary School, which included the current name. The committee ask that the community select its top three names for consideration.
