 THE PARENT RESOURCE CENTER PRESENTS...

Local sessions presented by experts in our community, specially designed for parents of children with disabilities. However, many of the topics are applicable to all parents, and as such, all are welcome.   


SESSION 1:
SNAP AND READ: Text To Speech

Snap and Read is an assistive technology tool that can read text to users, simplify difficult vocabulary, and translate English into other languages. Snap and Read is installed on every student and staff computer in Albemarle County Public Schools. While originally purchased for students with disabilities, it is now available to all students to support learning. This session will focus on assisting parents to increase awareness of Snap and Read and increase skills relating to its use in order to provide parents the tools that may aid in their child's learning.

Co-Writer is an assistive technology tool that provides word prediction that is grammar smart and inventive spelling aware. Speech recognition allows you to speak to it, and it'll write it. Co-Writer is installed on every students and staff computer who attends or works in Albemarle County Public Schools. While originally purchased for students with disabilities, it is now available to all students to support learning. This session will focus on the assisting parents to increase awareness of Co-Writer and increase skills relating to its use in order to provide parents the tools that may aid in their child's learning.
