Career Opportunities
Albemarle County's ESOL team is a dynamic group of educators who manage school-based programs to ensure the academic, social, and civic success of multilingual students. In addition to teachers, the program recruits tutors, teaching assistants, interpreters, and bilingual instructional and family liaisons to support our students. Teachers regularly participate in collaborative professional learning to advance the program to the leading edge of its potential.
If you are interested in joining our team, please complete Albemarle County's online application. We are especially interested in hiring bilingual Spanish and English speakers.
ESOL Endorsement
All ESOL teachers must have an ESOL endorsement as well as Virginia state licensure. If you are a current teacher interested in adding this endorsement, or a teacher from another state interested in coming to Albemarle County, please review this link to the Virginia Department of Education's information on taking a Praxis exam in English as a Second or Other language to add this endorsement to an existing teaching license. We also recommend taking a class in linguistics and participating in ESOL-related professional development.
