Online Registration

Online Registration

All students attending Albemarle, Monticello and Western Albemarle high schools will complete registration for classes online via Parent Portal

Registration Overview:

  • At the High School Level (grades eight through eleven): Families will be notified by their base-school as to the exact window when ParentPortal will open for student course selection. Students and their families will have time in December and January to select courses for the upcoming school year. Once the Portal closes, current teachers will review student choices and contact families with comments regarding the child's course selection. These comments will be found in ParentPortal under COURSE REGISTRATION or families will be contacted directly by the teacher.
  • Our High School Program of Studies addresses the characteristics that a student should have to succeed in a particular course level.
  • At the Middle School Level (grades six and seven): Teachers will make course recommendations for any course that is level-based (Advanced/Honors). These recommendations will be based upon the student’s current performance in a particular subject, the student’s work habits, and the teacher’s knowledge of the prerequisite skills needed for success in subsequent courses. In some cases, student achievement in previous courses and concurrent classes may be considered due to skills needed in the next sequential course. Teachers’ recommendations are reevaluated at the end of the year if major changes have occurred in the student’s performance. Students and families will make course selections with this information in mind.
