The Office of Community Engagement strives to establish community engagement as a systemic process across our School Division for working collaboratively with stakeholders to inform, involve, and implement school and Division improvements. Our challenge is to involve the different groups with an interest in education in our continuous improvement process in meaningful, sustainable ways. Community engagement is a critical vehicle for driving the School Division toward achievement of its Strategic Plan goals.
Community engagement is about building connections. It's about helping our schools relate to our community just as much as it is about helping our citizens relate to our schools. Through community engagement, we seek to create community conversations that result in collaborations through which we take action together to meet challenges facing our children and schools. It's about getting everyone to share ideas, getting everyone to help make a plan of action, and getting everyone to share responsibility for moving a plan into action. The result is a greater understanding of community values, deeper understanding of school system goals and high levels of community trust and involvement in its schools.
