Topping Out Ceremony for Mountain View Upper Elementary School

What:

Albemarle County Public Schools will host a Topping Out Ceremony to mark the placement of the highest steel beam in the construction of Mountain View Upper Elementary School (serving grades 3–5). The event will include remarks from school division leaders and project partners, followed by a luncheon and a jobsite tour.

When:

Thursday, September 4, 2025

  • 11 a.m. – Topping Out Ceremony and luncheon
  • 1 p.m. – Jobsite tour

Mountain View Upper Elementary School construction site

Why:

This milestone marks continued progress in ACPS’s investment in modern, student-centered learning environments. As the division’s first new elementary school in 20 years, Mountain View Upper Elementary School will serve students in grades 3–5, helping to relieve overcrowding at Mountain View Elementary while providing flexible, collaborative learning spaces.

Photo & Interview Opportunities:

Media will have access to document public remarks, capture key moments such as the beam placement, and conduct brief interviews with school division leaders, architects, and project representatives.
