Six Candidates for Rio District School Board Seat Will Be Interviewed Thursday

(ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia)—This Thursday evening, beginning at 6:30, the Albemarle County School Board will interview six community members who applied to succeed Katrina Callsen as the school board representative for the Rio Magisterial District. The interviews are open to the public and will take place in Room 320 of the County Office Building, located at 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville. This special meeting of the board also will be livestreamed at the following link:

Candidate applications are available for viewing through the October 19 Agenda on the division’s ElectronicSchoolBoard website. Under “Special Meeting Business,” there are two agenda items for “School Board Candidate Interviews,” each of which contains three candidate applications.

There will be a public hearing on the appointment during the school board’s November 9 business meeting, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. in Lane Auditorium at the County Office Building. The new representative will serve on an interim basis for one year. The final year of Callsen’s term will be served by the winner of a general election that will be held on November 5, 2024. The next four-year term of the Rio seat will be on the ballot in November 2025.
