In accordance with the terms of his existing contract, the School Board meets annually with the Superintendent to review and discuss contract provisions. The last extension was approved on October 12, 2023, setting the term through June 30, 2027. The new one-year extension reflects the Board’s continued confidence in Dr. Haas’s leadership.
In addition to the contract extension, the Board approved a 3% salary adjustment for Dr. Haas, effective July 1, 2025, the same date that salary increases for all regular Albemarle County Public Schools employees take effect. The Board also approved a $600 bonus for Dr. Haas, matching the amount distributed to all full-time employees in May as part of a state-funded initiative included in the General Assembly’s Conference Budget.
“These actions are consistent with the Board’s approach to maintaining equitable and transparent compensation practices across the division,” said School Board Chair Dr. Kate Acuff. “We’re grateful for Dr. Haas’s steady leadership and continued commitment to our students, staff, and community. In this case, the Board approved the same salary adjustment and bonus provided to all regular employees this year.”
“I am grateful for the Board’s support and their belief in our leadership team,” said Dr. Haas. “It is an honor to continue serving Albemarle County Public Schools, and I am confident that, with our Board’s leadership, we will keep moving ACPS forward for the good of our children, staff, families, and community.”
Dr. Haas has served as Superintendent since July 1, 2018. His tenure has focused on advancing the division’s strategic goals, including expanding learning opportunities, strengthening school climate and safety, and addressing disparities in access and achievement.
