Learning Resources for Preschool Available for Public Review

Comprehensive learning resources for preschool, proposed for adoption at the Albemarle County School Board meeting on December 9, 2021, are now available for public review. Books and materials associated with The Creative Curriculum for Preschool will be on display through February 4, 2022, on the third floor of the Albemarle County Office Building, located at 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville.

Community members may review the learning resources between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except on school holidays. Upon arrival, community members should check in with the third-floor receptionist.

Following the public review, staff will consider any feedback received and make appropriate recommendations for action and/or adoption at the School Board meeting on February 10, 2022.

In accordance with School Board Policy IIAA, a textbook selection and adoption committee developed specific evaluation checklists to determine alignment of materials with Albemarle County curriculum goals, correlation to the related discipline area competencies, and lifelong-learner competencies. The committee also reviews learning resources to ensure they meet the selection criteria outlined in Policy IIAA, including overall instructional purpose, educational suitability, age appropriateness, timeliness, subject matter importance, and product quality.
