Dear Military-Affiliated Families,

On behalf of the Albemarle County Veterans Affinity Group, we would like to welcome all new Soldiers, Airmen, Sailors, Marines, and their families to our county. Albemarle truly is a wonderful place to live that offers a friendly community and many things to do!

We want to take this opportunity to make sure you know that the West Point Society of Monticello is hosting a FREE family-friendly event at Walnut Creek Park on Sunday, August 28, from 1200-1500 (12 to 3 p.m.). The 6th annual Seas the Day Veterans’ Outdoor Day will feature fishing, music, a picnic catered by Mission BBQ, and representatives from local veterans support organizations. Click here to register!

Also, we would like to invite you to attend a brief orientation to Albemarle County and Albemarle County Public Schools on Thursday, September 1, from 1600-1700 (4 to 5 p.m.) over Zoom. During this virtual event, our County Executive, Jeff Richardson, and our Superintendent of Schools, Matthew Haas, will personally welcome all new military members to Albemarle County and share a few resources with you.
