School Calendar Update: No School for Students on April 21
Dear Students, Families, and Staff:
Due to the Virginia special election scheduled for Tuesday, April 21, Albemarle County Public Schools will close schools for students on that day.
Many of our schools serve as polling places during elections. Closing schools to students on April 21 will help reduce the number of people in our buildings, ease parking challenges, and allow us to maintain normal safety and security procedures while voting takes place.
EDEP School Holiday Program:
The Extended Day Enrichment Program (EDEP) will offer its School Holiday Program at Greer Elementary School from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on April 21. Students must be pre-registered to attend.
Information for Employees:
April 21 will be used for employee training, teacher work time, and division- or school-based professional learning.
- 12-month classified employees should report to work as usual.
- 10-month classified employees should not report to work.
- Supervisors will follow up with additional guidance for teachers and other licensed staff.
Additional information about the April 21 election is available from Albemarle County: April 21, 2026 Special Election.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.
