ACPS TechKnow - Family Edition, Issue 4

Dear Families,

Welcome to the fourth issue of ACPS TechKnow, a monthly series to keep students, families and staff in the know about all things technology within ACPS! We use this e-newsletter to provide you with helpful information about different technology-related topics. In our February family edition of ACPS TechKnow, we’re talking about Digital Learning Day.

We’re excited to celebrate Digital Learning Day on February 29! At Albemarle County Public Schools, we strive to use technology to make learning fun and engaging and to provide students with ways to increase voice and choice in the classroom. We hope you’ll celebrate Digital Learning Day with us at home by exploring some of our favorite resources along with your child:

  • Digital art and creative tools like BandLab, WeVideo (grades 3-12), and Adobe (grades 6-12), all tools your child can access through ClassLink using their ACPS login information.
  • Content area tools like BrainPop (grades K-8) and STMath (grades K-5) to help your child continue their learning at home, also available through ClassLink.
  • Text-to-speech, speech-to-text, and predictive text tools like Snap & Read and Co-Writer, available on iPads (grades K-2) and through Google Chrome extensions (grades 3-12).

We also know that a healthy balance of technology can be tricky to find. Common Sense Media is a great resource to help you understand if a tool is right for your child, and our Family Field Guide (also available in Spanish) can help your family have positive conversations about healthy tech use.

Happy Digital Learning Day!
