Thank you, office associates!

On any given day, you might find an Albemarle County Public Schools’ Office Associate creating attendance reports for teachers, welcoming students who arrive late to school, or answering parent questions.

They are the heartbeat of a school, and sometimes the brain. At Hollymead, Sandra Mitchell has been an office associate for nearly 20 years. If someone there has a question, she probably knows the answer.

“I love my job,” Sandra said. “The families are wonderful here and I feel like God put me here.”

She joined ACPS in 2002 and has worked at Hollymead ever since. Through various teachers, administrations, and even a global pandemic, Sanda has remained a constant.

“What our office administrators do can’t be overstated,” Hollymead principal Craig Dommer said. “They’re the first face people see when they come into the school. They make people feel welcome and included. I don’t think the school could run without them.”

Stacey Gallup, Hollymead’s newest office assistant, joined the division in November. It’s been an interesting experience without kids in the school, she said. But she’s glad to see them back.

“I’m still working on learning all of their names,” Stacey said. “It’s a process, but I’m learning.”

It’s this dedication that makes our ACPS office assistants great. We appreciate their work every day, but want to give them a very special “thank you” on Administrative Professionals Day.

Thank you, ACPS office assistants! We appreciate all the work you do!
