Past Capital Projects

Mountain View Primary Elementary is the second-largest elementary school in the county and served over 700 students. Opening for the 2024-2025 school year, the addition project funded expansions and site improvements to support the current student population. The project enlarged the cafeteria and added six classrooms. Site improvements included additional parking, enhancing outdoor learning spaces and playgrounds, and removing four mobile classrooms. 

A new parking area was added to the upper section of Western Albemarle High School's campus, to expand vehicle capacity. 

This project added about 28,000 square feet to Crozet Elementary, in addition to improvements on the existing building and campus. The addition created17 classrooms, 3 smaller resource classrooms, 2 offices, a faculty workroom, and several support spaces. The addition also expanded the existing cafeteria and media center to support the larger student enrollment. Improvements to the existing building included improvements to classrooms, kitchen, stage, and cafeteria, as well as improvements to existing administration, support spaces, and restrooms. Site improvements will included new outdoor learning areas, an expanded bus drop-off, additional parking, and additional playground equipment.

The Red Hill Addition and Renovation were completed for the 2021-2022 school year. The project included a new addition, site work, and renovations to the existing school. The addition added about 6,300 square feet, comprised of a new gymnasium and support spaces such as staff offices and storage space. The old gym at Red Hill was renovated, converting it to classroom space. Site work included additional parking, site improvements, and new outdoor learning areas. Existing spaces that were renovated include the cafeteria, bathrooms, hallways, and kitchen equipment. 

A 50,000 square foot addition, adding classrooms and a gym facility as well as improving the bus loop. Opened for the 2021-2022 school year, it increased capacity by approximately 400 students, allowing the existing trailer classrooms to be removed from the campus.
