The Building Services Department is responsible for comprehensive maintenance, custodial, grounds, and environmental management services, as well as capital improvement projects, for Albemarle County Public Schools’ schools and facilities. The responsibilities of the department are divided into four teams:
The Administrative Team is responsible for the management of the other teams, as well as the planning and construction of the school division’s Capital Improvement Program. This team ensures that the design, construction, operation and maintenance of all school facilities provide 21st century learning environments for the students, staff and citizens of Albemarle County.
The Custodial Team provides a comprehensive system of sanitation to our school facilities and is responsible for executing the Recycling Program within the schools. The team places strong emphasis on building cleanliness and understands the importance of this duty in order to provide a successful learning environment.
The Maintenance Team provides repair, preventive maintenance, and grounds maintenance to more than 2,331,000 square feet of building space and 631 acres of grounds.
School personnel are able to submit maintenance requests by contacting the lead custodian.
The Environmental Management Team is responsible for managing the impact of our organization's activities, products and services on the environment. This program provides the school division with a structured approach for planning, implementing, reviewing and improving environmental protection measures with the goal of environmental sustainability.
