At Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS), our vision is clear: we want learners engaged in authentic, challenging, and relevant learning experiences so they can become lifelong contributors and leaders in our dynamic and diverse society.
To make this vision a reality, we need to know how we are doing—and that starts with listening to the people who matter most: our students and their families. Every year, we conduct experience surveys to check the pulse of our school communities. By partnering with Panorama Education, we are able to securely gather your feedback and compare our district’s data to similar school systems nationwide, ensuring we are always striving for excellence.

Partnering with Families
A child's success is a partnership between the classroom and the home. Once a year, we ask all ACPS families to share their perspectives on their student’s school. We are incredibly grateful to the more than 2,000 families who responded to our 2026 survey.
Families weigh in on the following domains, in addition to providing valuable open comments on what is going well and how ACPS can improve:

Most importantly, parent and family feedback doesn't just sit in a file—it drives real change. We invite you to read our Family Response Analyses linked below to see exactly how ACPS leadership and school principals are actively responding to the insights you shared.
In 2024 ACPS adjusted its parent/teacher conference schedule across schools and added new opportunities for conferences as a result of feedback (2024 analysis). In 2025 ACPS provided professional development to administrators and teachers on the communication strategies that parents identified in the survey as being most helpful for them to feel connected to their child’s learning (2025 analysis).

Empowering students to share their perspectives on the learning environment.
Each spring, we invite all students in grades 3-12 to share their thoughts on their school experience. We are proud that our student response rates consistently top 75%, giving us an accurate picture of our school climates.
