Compensation

The compensation philosophy of Albemarle County Public Schools is to attract and retain quality employees while maintaining internal equity and external market competitiveness. We have guidelines and policies for administering pay within the organization. The goal of the compensation program is to attract, retain, and reward a highly qualified workforce to serve our community.

Salary Increases

You can grow by demonstrating greater levels of competency and consistently meeting your objectives. If approved within a given year’s budget, annual salary increases are typically effective each July 1st and reflect growth within your current job and pay grade.

An annual salary increase is a percentage of your pay.

Keep in mind that pay for performance increases are not guaranteed. Pay for performance increases, if any, are determined through the budget process and approved by the School Board.
