Regional Migrant Education
Albemarle Regional Migrant Education provides quality academic support services and advocacy to migrant students and out of school migrant youth in the central Virginia region. The purpose of these services is to enable migrant students to learn English, reach challenging state academic goals, receive a high school diploma or GED, continue postsecondary education, and improve employment opportunities. The program is funded by federal funds and competitive grant money, as well as by private donations. The Migrant Education staff work in schools, homes, and migrant camps to aid the students and young adults in achieving their educational goals.
Who We Serve
Albemarle Regional Migrant Education serves students between the ages of 3 and 21 who currently reside in the central Virginia region. The area served includes the school systems of:

- Fluvanna

- Greene
- Hanover
- Louisa
- Lunenburg
- Madison

Virginia Counties Served by ACPS Regional Migrant Education Program
To qualify for migrant services, a family or independent youth must have moved from one school district to another within the past three years for the purpose of finding agricultural work. The most common types of seasonal or temporary employment in this area include work in apple or peach orchards, vineyards, nurseries, dairies, or the poultry industry.
