Contact your student’s school for Information on educational records requests and transfers. Per Policy JO, whenever a pupil transfers from one school division to another, the scholastic record (or copy), including disciplinary records maintained on a pupil, will be transferred to the school division to which the pupil transfers upon request from such school division. Permission of the parent, guardian, or other person having control or charge of the student will not be required for transfer of such scholastic record to another school or school division within or outside of Virginia. However, when transferring records to another school division, written notice of the transfer will be sent to the parent, guardian, or other person having control or charge of the student within five days of the date on which the record was transferred. No fee is charged for a copy of student records. In addition, no fees are charged for search, retrieval, interpretation, or reproduction of scholastic records including the Individualized Education Program (IEP).
