What Do I Need to Know?

The Drama Camp program involves acting, choreography, and playwriting. Rising 7-12th graders will dive deep into the dramatic arts as they create plays that they will perform at the end of the week.

The camp will be held on July 8-12​, 9:00am-1:00pm at Albemarle High School (2775 Hydraulic Road Charlottesville, VA 22901)

Final Performance Friday, July 12.  Time & location TBA​ 

What is the Camp Schedule?

Monday 7/8:

  • 9:00am– 12:00pm--Teambuilding, Improv, Warm-ups
  • 12:00–12:45pm--Lunch
  • 12:45–1:00pm--Debriefing and problem-solving

Tuesday 7/9:

  • 9:00–10:30am--Session 1 (“Phase 2” of sessions from Monday)
  • 10:30–10:35am--Break
  • 10:35am–12:00pm--Session 2 (Switch groups)
  • 12:00-12:45pm--Lunch
  • 12:45–1:00pm--Debriefing and problem-solving

Wednesday 7/10:

  • 9:00–10:00am--Read, discuss, and analyze examples of 10-minute plays.
  • 10:00am–12:00pm--Divide into four groups. Write as much as possible, creating original 10-minute plays.
  • 12:00–12:45pm--Lunch
  • 12:45–1:00pm--Debrief and problem-solving

Thursday 7/11:

  • 9:00–10:00am--Discussion and problem-solving
  • 10:00am–12:00pm--Skit staging and blocking
  • 12:00–12:45pm--Lunch
  • 12:45–1:00pm--Debrief and problem-solving

Friday 7/12:

  • 9:00–10:00am--First dress rehearsal
  • 10:00am–12:00pm--Work the skits...”Stop and Go ‘Em”
  • 10:00–10:30am--1st skit
  • 10:30–11:00am--2nd skit
  • 11:00–11:30am--3rd skit
  • 11:30am–12:00pm--4th skit
  • 12:00–12:45pm--Lunch
  • 12:45–1:00pm--Debrief and problem-solving

What Do I Need to Bring?

  • Water, a snack, and lunch
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • A pencil and spiral notebook​
