Summer Fine Arts Academy Opens Online Registration for Performing and Visual Arts and Creative Writing Programs
(ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia) – Online registration is now open for the sixth annual Fine Arts Academy, which will offer music, theater, visual arts, and creative writing camps for rising seventh through 12th grade students this summer. Program activities run from Monday, July 8, through Friday, July 12, at Albemarle High School. Admission to the camps is granted on a first come, first served basis, and all five camps culminate in a capstone performance or exhibit at the end of the week.
Students from beginners to accomplished musicians and artists attend the Summer Fine Arts Academy each year, where they gain hands-on instruction and experience under the guidance of fine arts teachers from the school division. Many programs also host guest professionals from the local area who share their insight and skill with the students. In 2018, more than 150 students participated in the Academy.
Registration is open for the heavily-subscribed Jazz Camp, Rock & Rap/Music Production Academy, Drama & Playwriting Camp, Visual Arts Academy, and Creative Writing Camp. All programs begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 1 p.m., with the exception of Jazz Camp, which ends each day at noon.
Registration fees range from $100 to $150 for the week, with the exception of the Rock & Rap/Music Production Academy, which is free.
For more information on the individual programs, click on the title of each camp from the Summer Fine Arts Academy homepage. Links for registration and an informational video also are available on that page.
