Starting This Evening, All School Board Meetings Will Be Available on Live Video Feed

(ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Virginia) – Beginning with this evening’s work session, live video feed of all Albemarle County School Board meetings will be streamed online. The live stream is accessible at http://streaming.k12albemarle.org/ACPS/player.htm?xml/schoolboard.xml or from the ACPS division website at www.k12albemarle.org, under Important Links. The link is the same one used previously for live audio feeds of board meetings.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6:30 in Lane Auditorium of the County Office Building at 401 McIntire Road in Charlottesville. Board members are expected to adopt the school division’s operating and special revenue fund budgets for the fiscal year that begins on July 1. Also on the agenda are various amendments to the school division’s capital budget requests to the Board of Supervisors and a work session on strategic priorities.

Adopted as part of the division’s current strategic plan, the three strategic priorities that will be the subject of discussion tonight include creating a culture of high expectations for all; identifying and removing practices that perpetuate the achievement gap; and ensuring that all students can identify and develop personal interests.

The board approves priorities every two years; however, the priorities approved this year will only be for one year, since the school division will adopt a new strategic plan in 2020.

The school board generally holds meetings on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the County Office Building. The public can access agendas on the Monday prior to each meeting through our ElectronicSchoolBoard website at esb.k12albemarle.org.
