1. Please note that Thanksgiving Vacation is Wednesday, November 26th to Sunday, December 1st. School will resume Monday, November 2nd.  

2. Diversity for Life, better known by the students as D4L, is a club that is open to all students at any grade level.  The club is sponsored by Kim Kennedy, Caroline East and Carlee Shiflett.  The students organize and attend a wide range of diversity celebrations and activities. D4L is planning a Family Game Night for the evening of November 20th and a Mix-It-Up Lunch for later in the month.  In January, D4L will help with the community Annual Cultural Celebration.  All students are invited to attend at ANY point within the school year.  We welcome everyone!

3. The Sutherland SCA is running a Holiday Drive. The collection includes canned food, toys (new or gently used) and sports equipment (again, new or gently used).  All donations will go to: Meals on Wheels, the 2008 Toy Lift and Greer Elementary School. Please take a look through your house and see if there is anything you can donate. Any and all is appreciated this season!   

4. The annual book drive to help support the Toy Lift Foundation will be running through November 21st. Students may donate books through their homeroom classes. Please make sure the books are in good condition.

5. The Guidance counselors will end their 7th grade career lesson before vacation. All 7th grade students are taking a career interest inventory in their social studies and science classes. For interested parents, the career inventory can be found at www.vaview.org .

  1. Interims mailed hone (for students with Ds , Fs or for students that have dropped two letter grades in a class)
  2. Mix-It-Up Day at Lunch for all grades
  3. Vision screening for 7th grade students in the gym
